Omar began his writing career in theatre. He has had five plays staged, two of which went on national tour. In 2013 he went to Mumbai and joined the writers’ room on the Zee TV Indian TV drama CLOUD 9, where he wrote 23 episodes and was a consultant on several others. In 2016, he wrote, produced and acted in his own sitcom pilot, LOVE, SEX AND SIDE EFFECTS. The pilot got a development contract with BBC Comedy and was developed with them for several months. This pilot has won two Best Comedy Awards at international film festivals in 2018 and this year has been nominated for four more awards. In July 2016, Omar joined the BBC Writers’ Room shadow scheme for the CBBC show THE DUMPING GROUND. His latest short film THE PLUNGE starring Lydia Wilson, premiered at Palm Springs ShortFest, won Best Short Film at the New York Lift Off Festival and was long-listed for a BAFTA after being selected for both Aesthetica and London Short Film Festival.
